Dr Paul Mason is Director of Postgraduate Research in the School for Journalism, Media and Cultural Studies at Cardiff University. His research is concerned with shaping and affecting policy and decision making - to seek change and offer criticism. Broadly his work is in the fields of crime and the media and media discourses of political violence. He has recently published Captured By The Media: |
prison discourse in popular culture (Ed., Willan, 2006) and is author (with Frank Leishman) of Policing and the Media: facts, fictions and factions (Willan, 2003) and editor of Criminal Visions: media representations of crime and justice (Willan, 2003). He also produced, for the United Nations, the report The Impact of Electronic Media Coverage of Court Proceedings at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (2000)Paulruns the Prison Media Monitoring Unit.
